Poor performance against Columbus earns Red Wings a practice day

Wings coach Mike Babcock was set to give his team the day off Wednesday, but after their performance on the ice Tuesday in Columbus he changed his mind.

The Wings fell to the previously winless Blue Jackets, 4-1.

And Babcock had them skating hard at Joe Louis Arena.

"I guess if you don't do it in games, you can do it in practice, right?" Babcock said. "This should have been an off day. They should have gone for coffee with their wives.
