Color Ian White happy
By Chuck Pleiness of dailytribune.com:
Defenseman Ian White has turned into quite a bargain for the Detroit Red Wings.
The offseason replacement for Brian Rafalski, White is tied for the team lead in goals (two) and tied for second on the team with three points through four games.
“It’s been pretty much what I expected,” White said. “It’s a lot more fun once you get going and see these guys in action, how good our team is. It’s a lot of fun to be around.

Red Wings' Mike Commodore finally practices but still has a ways to go
From Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press:
Defenseman Mike Commodore isn’t frustrated about the injured knee that’s keeping him out of the Detroit Red Wings' lineup.
“There’s nothing I can do about it,” he said. “Obviously, I wish I was playing, but I just have to be patient.”
Today, the first-year Wing took another step toward getting into the lineup by practicing for the first time in the regular season.
Commodore said he felt “not bad. Not great but not bad.

Is Jiri Hudler's Return to Form for Real?
Here is a look at Juri Hudler since his return from the KHL. He has some struggles since coming back to the NHL but so far this season, he has been putting up some good numbers.
Matt Hutter of Bleacher Report talks about Hudler's progress here: Is Jiri Hudler's Return to Form for Real?
Here is an excerpt: "Hudler's post-KHL struggles were well documented last season (amply by yours truly), and the summer prognostications directed towards the Wings suggested everything from a buyout to a future-considerations trade would be preferable to actually keeping Hudler in Detroit.
The goal, clearly, was to do anything to cut lose of Jiri Hudler and his $2.75 million cap hit.
To my mind, there was no way in hell (or heaven) that Hudler would be able to contribute in any significant way after he fell so utterly flat on his face the year before.
Well, apparently that's why my mind isn't running the Detroit Red Wings.
